The Reflection Method

How The Reflection Method works

A clear look at what the quizzes measure, how your results are generated, and the privacy and limits you should know before you start.

What the quizzes measure

The Reflection Method uses structured self-checks to help you name patterns that show up in difficult or confusing relationships. Each quiz focuses on observable behaviors and internal experiences — such as how conflict is handled, how fast intimacy moves, how boundaries are respected, and how you feel after interactions.

The tools draw on relationship research, attachment theory, and documented patterns of emotional manipulation. They are designed to turn vague unease into specific language you can act on.

How results are generated

You answer the questions

Each quiz presents a short series of statements about thoughts, feelings, or behaviors in a relationship. You choose how much each statement applies to you, your partner, or the situation you're reflecting on.

Answers are scored in your browser

Your responses are converted to numerical scores using the scoring rules built into the quiz. Everything happens locally on your device — answers are not sent to our servers for scoring.

Scores are mapped to patterns

The total score is compared to defined bands or thresholds. Each band corresponds to a result such as low, moderate, or elevated presence of a pattern, along with a plain-language explanation.

You get personalized guidance

Based on the result, you receive targeted next steps, boundary scripts, or suggested resources. These are generated from the same scoring logic, so the advice matches the pattern the quiz identified.

Privacy and data handling

No account required

You can take any quiz without signing up. We do not ask for your name, email, or any identifying information to view a result.

Answers stay on your device

Quiz responses are processed in your browser. They are not stored permanently on our servers unless you explicitly use an optional account-based sync feature.

Optional local storage

Some features, like saving your history or remembering your region for crisis resources, may store small amounts of data in your browser. You can clear this at any time.

No ads or third-party trackers

We do not sell your information or use advertising trackers. Analytics, if enabled, are used only to understand how features are used in aggregate.

Important limitations

  • The quizzes are self-assessment tools, not clinical diagnostic instruments.
  • Results are based on your own answers and cannot observe the full context of a relationship.
  • A high score on any pattern does not mean someone has a personality disorder or attachment style diagnosis.
  • The tools are designed for adults reflecting on their own relationships. They are not a substitute for therapy, legal advice, or crisis intervention.
  • If you feel unsafe or in crisis, please use the crisis support page or contact local emergency services.
